ABOUT THE EVENT

Shane will be speaking about the Council on Environmental Quality's (CEQ's) recent two-phase rulemaking to revise the regulations for implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). He will be discussing this from FHWA's perspective, and how it relates to transportation infrastructure projects in South Carolina.

Topics will include:

  • What was CEQ's two-phase rulemaking process?
  • What changes occurred in Phase I?
  • What changes occurred in Phase II?
  • How are these changes affecting FHWA's NEPA process?
  • How is FHWA/SCDOT adapting to these changes?
  • What are some best practices moving forward for FHWA NEPA practitioners?
